North Texas colleges and universities will receive $154 million in grant money amid the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.

Fifty percent of those funds will be provided to students in the form of emergency financial aid grants to cover expenses related to campus disruptions, according to a release from Sen. John Cornyn.

This aid comes as part of the CARES Act passed by Congress in March.

Among the North Texas schools to receive aid are Collin County Community College, with $10.8 million; The University of Texas at Dallas, with $19.1 million; and Tarrant County College, with $22 million.

“No Texan should have to give up their education because of the economic effects of the coronavirus,” Cornyn said in a release. “In addition to allowing students to defer their federal student loan payments for six months, the CARES Act provides targeted funding to Texas institutions to help students continue their education--even if that means taking classes online.”
Texas institutions received a total of $1 billion in federal aid, according to Cornyn's office. See which North Texas colleges and universities are receiving aid below.
