Grapevine-Colleyville ISD trustees April 13 approved the hiring of Alex Fingers as Grapevine High School principal.

Fingers comes from Cross Timbers Middle School, where he served as principal for four years.

Outgoing Grapevine High School Principal David Denning held the position since 2015.

"I can't wait to see the students, and I can't wait to involve our parents because Mustang nation is a very, very powerful entity," Fingers said on an April 13 video conference with the board of trustees. "You can feel the love all across the bridge, as we call it, at Cross Timbers Middle School, and I can't wait to be a bridge over the bridge."

Trustee Doug Noell signaled his support for Fingers' new role.

"He's been principal of [Cross Timbers Middle School] for four years, and my son was there for three of them," Noell said. "I've seen him grow, and he's doing a great job, and I'm looking forward to him being principal at Grapevine High School."
