Los Amigos Grapevine celebrated its 30th anniversary.
The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the occasion on Feb. 27.
A closer look
Owner Arturo Gutierrez said he purchased the building, a closed Mexican restaurant, in February 1996.
Gutierrez thanked his staff, saying multiple employees have been there for 10 years, 12 or 18 years. One of the servers has been there almost 30 years, hired just months after Gutierrez bought the building and opened his restaurant, then just called Los Amigos. He later added Grapevine to the business name.
"Without Grapevine, we are nothing," Gutierrez said. "I want to stay here. I really love this town. Thank you, Grapevine, for supporting us."
The two-day celebration, held on February 27-28, included mariachi bands performing both nights, as well as food and drink specials.
Los Amigos Grapevine did not have a liquor license until July 2024, according to previous reporting. Gutierrez talked about that during the ribbon-cutting. He said in recent years, customers continued to question why a Mexican restaurant did not offer margaritas or beer on the menu. He thanked the city for working with him to add that to the offerings.
The details
Los Amigos Grapevine offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. He said some of the most popular items now are street tacos and quesabirria. When the business opened, he said enchiladas were a big draw.
The menu also includes tortas, flautas, fajitas, tamales, taco salads and carne asada.
