Whataburger and Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers will be opening new spots inside Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. There is also one eatery that is leaving the airport.

A lease agreement with MultiRestaurants Concepts, LTD, which will operate Whataburger, was discussed at the DFW Airport board meeting in November, while Cane’s confirmed a new location will be coming to the airport.

Whatburger will be in Terminal B, near gate 41. This will be the third DFW Airport location, with others in Terminal E at gate 27 and Terminal D at gate 17.

According to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the $2.17 million project started Dec. 8 and has an estimated finish of June 5. The 3,102-square-foot space is listed as a remodel/conversion.


Whataburger’s airport locations sell the same burgers, chicken tenders, fries and shakes as the traditional restaurant does, according to its online menu.

What you need to know

Work has started on Raising Cane’s first airport location, which will be Terminal B, near gate 19.

The hand-battered chicken fingers restaurant, based in Plano, started work on the new location in November, according to a spokesperson.


A filing with TDLR shows the $800,000 project will include new partitions, finishes, millwork, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical work. The estimated completion date is April 23, according to the state document. According to previous reporting, it will be open 24/7.

One more thing

The board approved a lease amendment with EatZi’s, which was located in Terminal D, at gate 5. The involuntary termination was due to the result of traffic patterns for new terminal F, according to board documents.

A European market-style eatery that prepares fresh-from-scratch, on-site chef-crafted meals every day, according to its website, opened at DFW Airport in 2023.
