Velvet Taco and Son of a Butcher will have a new neighbor soon.

The Grapevine City Council and Planning & Zoning Commission approved a conditional use permit for Firebird’s Wood Fired Grill, which will be located at 450 W. SH 114, behind Velvet Taco, during a meeting March 21.

The 7-acre site will also house a Rock & Brews restaurant that is under construction and potentially a fifth dining establishment at the site of the former Payton-Wright Ford dealership, according to documents.

Firebird’s will have a 6,341-square-foot restaurant and a 665-square-foot planned outdoor dining/patio that will face Hwy. 114, as well as a 40-foot pole sign.

It is a $6 million investments, according to representatives that spoke to council.

There were some concerns about speakers in the outdoor patio, but both council and planning and zoning ultimately passed the conditional use permit. Construction was awaiting the approval, but the restaurant could open in 2024.

The scratch kitchen restaurant and steakhouse is known for its hand-cut aged steaks, seafood, chicken, ribs and burgers. Firebirds has locations in 21 states. The first Texas location opened in the Alliance area of Fort Worth in 2022.

No phone number for the restaurant is available. www.firebirdsinternational.com
