Temperatures in the Metroplex will drop this weekend while light flurries are expected Jan. 20-21, said National Weather Service Meteorologist Monique Sellers.

What you need to know

The metroplex will see warmer weather Friday with the temperature cooldown starting Saturday night, Sellers said. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 40s while Sunday is expected to be in the mid-30s. Lows will be in the 20s and down in the teens through midweek, she said.

With the cold weather coming, the National Weather Service recommends residents:
  • Protect outdoor pipes
  • Let indoor faucets drip
  • Bring pets inside
  • Cover outdoor plants
  • Check on neighbors
Looking ahead

Flurries are expected to start Monday afternoon and continue into the evening Tuesday.

Light accumulations are expected but snow total will stay less than half an inch in all areas, according to the weather service’s Jan. 16 forecast.

Any precipitation will clear out by Tuesday, Sellers said.
