1. Hill, Vilhauer head to June runoff election for Frisco mayor
Mark Hill and Rod Vilhauer are heading to a runoff election for the Frisco mayor's seat. The two received the most votes, but neither earned more than 50% of the vote, according to Collin and Denton counties, with all precincts reporting. The runoff election is scheduled for June 13. Hill received the most votes with 8,705, or 34.64%, and Vilhauer trailed with 7,895 votes, or 31.42%.

2. Trader Joe’s debuts 2nd McKinney store
A new Trader Joe’s is now open and offering groceries in west McKinney. The store debuted May 7 with a ribbon-cutting event as customers lined up to enter the new store. More than 40 local residents have been hired to work at the store, and Trader Joe's transferred 30 additional employees from other stores, a company release states.

3. Chris Schulmeister wins Allen mayoral race, unofficial final results show
Chris Schulmeister will be Allen's next mayor. Collin County's unofficial final voting totals show Schulmeister winning the race with 3,278 votes, or 81%. Schulmeister ran against Dave Shafer, who got 764 votes, or 18%. All results are unofficial until canvassed.

4. Cafe Brazil to bring 24-hour coffeehouse, eatery to McKinney
Cafe Brazil is set to debut a location in McKinney this summer, CEO and owner Lindsay Pultz confirmed. The 24-hour McKinney restaurant will offer the same menu as the company’s five other North Texas locations, including all-day breakfast items and a bottomless coffee bar.

5. Developers seek zoning for affordable senior living project in north McKinney
A new senior living community is being proposed near the northeast corner of Lake Forest Drive and US 380. McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend new zoning for the project during an April 28 meeting. If approved by council, nearly 10.5 acres would be rezoned for development of apartments and commercial space.

6. City of Plano completes purchase process for 3 Plano ISD campuses
Three former Plano ISD campuses are in the final step of the purchasing process with the city of Plano. The three properties are part of four schools Plano ISD approved for closure due to declining enrollment. Permitted uses for the lots include parks and playgrounds, fire stations and public safety buildings and single-family detached housing.
