Frisco City Council voted to increase the monthly Stormwater Utility Fee by 20% at a Jan. 6 meeting.

The rate increase will take effect Feb. 1.

The details

The fee for each property is based on impervious area, or the amount of land that does not absorb water.

Fees for single-family residential properties fall into three tiers based on square footage.
For properties other than single-family homes, the fee will increase from $1.73 to $2.07 per 1,000 square feet of impervious area.

The context

Frisco uses the Stormwater Utility Fee to pay for programs required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, or TCEQ, like pollution prevention and public education.

Current rate increases were decided in the fiscal year 2025-26 budget adopted on Sept. 16.

Residents will likely see additional increases in future years, according to city documents.
