UPDATED: Frisco ISD announces Monday, Tuesday school closure

Frisco ISD will be closed Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27 due to the winter weather.

What you need to know

FISD schools will be closed for instruction and business Jan. 26-27 due to poor road conditions, per the district's alerts webpage. FISD will not need to utilize a bad weather make-up days as the district will still meet state requirements for minutes of instruction, the news alert states.

According to the National Weather Service, Winter Storm Fern is expected to move through the region starting Jan. 24 and bring freezing temperatures through Jan. 27. Officials with the weather service also noted wind chills will likely range from 5-15 degrees, which pose hypothermia and frostbite risks with prolonged exposure.
