Frisco ISD has announced its plans to make up for the missed time after nearly an entire week of school was canceled due to a statewide sweep of ice and snow.

All schools in the district will use one of its makeup days on April 28 to make up for the missed week, according to a districtwide news alert.

FISD has one bad weather day left to use, FISD Assistant Director of Communications Korinna Kirchhoff said.

The district announced it would close all schools for the rest of the week to ensure the safety of students and staff in a Feb. 2 email to parents.

“While road conditions around Frisco ISD are in drivable condition at the moment, 64% of FISD’s staff live outside of the city of Frisco,” FISD staff said in the email. “These staff members can be impacted by unsafe road conditions, affecting their ability to make it to campuses safely.”

Other school districts’ decisions to cancel classes and school bus scheduling issues also factored into the decision, according to the email.

“As always, the safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority,” FISD staff said in the email.
