Frisco community leaders and city officials gathered May 28 for a groundbreaking ceremony celebrating the ongoing construction progress at Firefly Park.
The development’s first phase is expected to be complete by late 2027.
The gist
Developed by Wilks Development, Firefly Park is located along the Dallas North Tollway off PGA Parkway. The 217-acre development will be delivered in three phases, with the first phase including:
Kyle Wilks, Wilks Development president and CEO, said at the groundbreaking ceremony that Frisco city leaders have “created a moment in time” for Firefly Park to take off and become a part of the city’s community.
“We’re committed to Frisco and this wonderful community that we love,” Wilks said.
What they’re saying
Mayor Jeff Cheney said at the groundbreaking ceremony he is honored to be celebrating the Firefly Park groundbreaking in his last few weeks in office.
“I can’t wait to see this park buildout [and] all the detail that comes with it,” Cheney said. “Firefly Park will be a really unique destination.”
Cheney called Firefly Park one of Frisco’s “most crucial pieces of property.”
Ryan Gebhart, Frisco Chamber of Commerce board of directors chair, said the chamber is excited about what future new businesses, employers or innovators that Firefly Park will help attract to Frisco.
“Developments like this create momentum, and that momentum benefits our entire business ecosystem,” Gebhart said.
Similarly, Mike Barber, vice chair of the Frisco Economic Development Corp. board of directors, said Firefly Park will be crucial to Frisco’s corporate business environment, particularly for corporations looking to potentially relocate to Frisco.
“If you’re looking to relocate or grow your corporate presence, there’s no better place than Frisco and no better moment than right now,” Barber said.
Zooming out
At full build-out, Firefly Park will have 3 million square feet of office space, 400,000 square feet of retail, dining and entertainment, 1,200 hotel rooms, 230 townhomes and 1,970 residential units, per previous reporting.
Wilks said previously the development is about 40% leased and will house about 30 retailers in the first phase, including Tyler’s, Frenchie, Woodhouse Spa and Second Rodeo.
Firefly Park will also feature a boutique hotel called Hotel Voeux, which will connect onto the development’s main plaza and share a connection with the chapel.
What’s next?
The hotel and townhomes are slated to begin construction in August and will complete construction by early 2028. Meanwhile, construction on the office space is expected to begin later this year and will take about 14 months, per previous reporting.
Wilks said at the groundbreaking ceremony that office space will start to be available in October 2027.
