A boutique 200-room hotel will be the hospitality focal point of the new Firefly Park development at the southwest corner of US 380 and the Dallas North Tollway, according to a news release.

Dream Hotel Group is expanding its list of 15 hotels with a new Dream Frisco hotel that will feature a rooftop pool deck and bar, a fitness center, and four food and beverage options. The hotel will be nestled in the Firefly mixed-use development, set to break ground in 2023. The Dream Frisco opening is slated for 2026.

"When we started thinking about what the northern part of Frisco was going to look like, we knew it needed to be a different experience from the southern part of our city. Now, with the announcement of the Dream Hotel coming to Firefly Park, it adds a significantly different, cool vibe to Frisco," Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney said.

Real estate and investment company Wilks Development is heading the project. The development group is tapping into Frisco's long history of hospitality, dating back to the early 1900s when the St. Louis-San Francisco "Frisco" railway ran through the area. The city that once was a stop on the Shawnee/Preston Trail will be home to Firefly Park, a 230-acre mixed-use development.

"The new Dream Hotel in Frisco will provide a hospitality experience unlike any other in the market today and will bring the vibrancy and entertainment of Firefly Park to a whole new level," Wilks Development President Kyle Wilks said.

With Dream Frisco as its anchor, Firefly Park will include 4.75 million square feet of commercial office space; 2,200 mid- and high-rise units; and 380,000 square feet of high-end retail space. The project comprises miles of hike-and-bike trails; multiple ponds and water features; and several playgrounds. Plans also call for a planned music hall and outdoor amphitheater.

Earlier plans for the development originally called Frisco North included a convention center, but revised plans from Wilks Development removed it. The original project was pitched to the city of Frisco in October 2021 under the name The Oxbow at Frisco.
