Frisco Planning and Zoning Commission approved a preliminary site plan tonight for a Hyatt Regency Hotel, which is slated to be attached to Stonebriar Centre, 2601 Preston Road, Frisco.

The Hyatt—proposed to be built between Nordstrom and Dillard's stores and attached to the mall on the ground floor—is planned to have 15 stories and 295 rooms. The hotel will also feature a parking garage with at least 800 parking spaces.

The Hyatt proposal also includes a 3,000-square-foot space the city will lease for $1 per year for 20 years to develop a public library.

The proposed hotel's conference center is expected to be at least 50,000 square feet and include a grand ballroom, a junior ballroom and additional breakout spaces. The city plans to purchase the conference center upon the hotel's completion.

The plans for the proposed hotel will go before the Frisco City Council at a future meeting.

Specialized child care center approved

The commission also approved a specific use permit for a Pediatrics Plus location at Frisco Street and Sports Village Road. Pediatrics Plus offers outpatient therapy, developmental preschool teaching and diagnostics for children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental issues.

The business has four other locations in Arkansas. The applicant said he decided to open a location in Frisco because of the growing youth population in the area.

The Frisco location is planned to be 25,000 square feet and could enroll 140 children. The specific use permit will also go before City Council at a later date.
