The new Whataburger under construction along Long Prairie Road is estimated to open later this year.

The Texas-based burger chain offers made-to-order burgers with never-frozen beef on a toasted 5-inch bun, according to its website. Other menu items include chicken sandwiches, wings, patty melts, chicken strips and breakfast items like biscuit sandwiches and taquitos.

Whataburger was first founded in 1950 in Corpus Christi. It has since opened locations across Texas with recent locations opening in Frisco in 2024 and Plano in 2025.

The first Flower Mound location was approved by Flower Mound Town Council in 2023. The total cost of construction is estimated to be about $2.5 million, according to previous reporting.
