1. Medical City Healthcare, Red Cross team up for summer blood drives across DFW
Medical City Healthcare and the American Red Cross North Texas Region are partnering together to host blood drives throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area this summer.
The blood drives, which are supported by Medical City Healthcare’s Black Colleague Network, aim to offset seasonal blood shortages while providing benefits to sickle cell patients, according to a news release. The two organizations previously partnered together in 2022 with the same goal.

2. 2026 World Cup to bring tourism boost to Frisco
Early discussions around future fundraising and the effects of the incoming FIFA World Cup are already taking place as cities look ahead to 2026.
“This will be the most financially successful World Cup of all time,” FC Dallas President Dan Hunt said.
The best way to picture the economic influence of the World Cup is to imagine what a Super Bowl event typically looks like, Hunt said: the number of fans traveling to and staying in the city for the game, the amount of merchandise sold, the food purchased for watch parties, and more.

3. Millions affected by data theft at Medical City, Carenow parent company
The parent company to hundreds of hospitals and clinics, HCA Healthcare Inc., announced July 10 approximately 11 million of its patients may have been the victim of a data leak.
Names, ZIP codes, phone numbers, email addresses and appointment dates were among the information stolen.
The patient information seems to have been taken from an external storage location used for formatting email messages and appointment reminders, according to the announcement.

4. Regional Transportation Council approves $5.3M for Silver Line project
Staff from the North Central Texas Council of Governments requested $5.3 million in federal funds as a final component of the mediation plan between DART and Dallas. The funds will be used to make enhancements along the Silver Line project in Dallas, according to a meeting agenda.

5. 200-plus businesses to attend North Texas job fair hosted by US Rep. Beth Van Duyne
Job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with potential employers during the North Texas Job Fair on Aug. 7
- Elected officials from Lewisville, Coppell, Flower Mound, Keller and more will co-host the event with U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne.
- More than 200 employers are planned to participate, Van Duyne said via Facebook. Participating businesses include Amazon, American Airlines, Target, Coppell Police Department, Dallas College and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. Attendees can also receive tips during a resume workshop.
- The fair will take place at the Irving Convention Center from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
