Tom Thumb in the Harvest Town Center near Argyle is now welcoming shoppers to its new store.
“There is not a grocery store within a certain mile radius,” said Sally Aldridge, the chief executive officer of the Metroport Chamber of Commerce. “This is a huge addition for not only Argyle but Northlake and the surrounding communities. It is definitely needed.”
The store will offer bread, cookies, ice cream cakes and fried donuts, Store Director Jennifer Czech said. Customers can also find fresh flowers, meat and seafood, prime beef with organic and grass fed options, beer, wine, and tens of thousands of groceries and non-food items, she said.
Tom Thumb also has a pharmacy, a drive-thru window and an in-store Starbucks coffee shop.
“It's my honor as mayor to welcome Tom Thumb to Argyle,” Mayor Ronald Schmidt said. “Thank you for joining the Argyle community. I don't say that lightly. Argyle is a special and unique place. We are a rural oasis surrounded by tremendous growth but determined to keep Argyle home to the cross timbers, equestrian living and open spaces.”
Customers can start shopping at the 63,000 square-foot grocery store at 6 a.m. on March 6, according to a news release from Tom Thumb. The first 300 shoppers will receive a bag of groceries, and all shoppers can enjoy samples and in-store events throughout the day during opening weekend, including photos with the Easter Bunny, per the release.
“We’re so excited to provide access to the community,” said Christy Lara, Tom Thumb's director of public relations. “A lot of what we’ve heard from consumers here is that [they] have to drive to Flower Mound to go to the grocery store...and so we’re super excited that...not only is the grocery store close, but [customers are] spending [their] money in Argyle...and so that’s something that will benefit the town as well.”
