Denton ISD schools will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 28, due to icy weather conditions, officials posted on the district's website. All before- and after-school activities have been cancelled, and district officials will continue to monitor the weather in coordination with local officials, the district message states.
The next update from officials will address school operation and instruction for Thursday, Jan. 29.

All before- and after-school activities have been cancelled, and district officials will continue to monitor the weather from Winter Storm Fern. The next update will address school openings and the activities schedule for Wednesday, Jan. 28.

As of Jan. 24, district officials have not made a decision on Tuesday, Jan. 27, but will communicate updates to the DISD community as they become available.

According to the National Weather Service, Winter Storm Fern is expected to move through the region starting Jan. 24 and bring freezing temperatures through Jan. 27. Officials with the weather service also noted wind chills will likely range from 5-15 degrees, which pose hypothermia and frostbite risks with prolonged exposure.
