The event allows middle school ensembles to showcase their talents by playing in the stands and bands from the district’s four high schools, Braswell, Denton, Guyer and Ryan, putting on a marching band production on the complex’s field. The final performance featured The University of North Texas’ Green Brigade playing a finale alongside all four high school bands, according to a DISD news release.
“Sounds of the Stadium has grown into one of our district’s most beloved traditions, bringing together thousands of families, alumni, and community members each year,” said Eddy Russell, Denton ISD director of fine arts, in the news release. “To reach the 20-year milestone is a testament to the hard work of our students and directors, and to the community’s unwavering support of music education. This year’s performance not only honored our history and our partnership with the University of North Texas but also showcased the bright future of fine arts in Denton ISD.”
The event initially began inside the University of North Texas Coliseum before DISD and university leaders collaborated to move the performance to the C.H. Collins Athletic Complex, which allows for the on-field marching productions and performances from the stands.
