Plano City Council will consider allowing the developer of a historic Plano homestead to build patio houses throughout most of the property after zoning commissioners on Monday approved the initial plans.

The Plano Planning and Zoning Commission passed a series of zoning changes and approved a preliminary site plan that would clear the way for 28 patio houses at the Wells homestead southwest of Coit Road and Lorimar Drive. In addition to the homestead, the property is home to the Sip and Savor restaurant, which would retain its winery permit on-site.

City Council would still need to pass the required zoning changes at a future meeting before the developer could move forward with construction of the patio homes.
