Double Dip Frozen Custard has closed its doors after 16 years of service in Frisco.

The ice cream shop moved last November from its long-time location in old downtown Frisco to a new development at 3288 W. Main Street.

In a Facebook message to his customers on Monday evening, Double Dip Owner Lloyd Sheets said after the move the shop’s “sales have not justified the business overhead.”

The shop was first established in 2001 and was styled as a throwback diner. The shop served frozen custard, which is a cold dessert similar to ice cream, as well as a selection of hot dogs and sandwiches. With the move, the shop decided to offer burgers, chicken strips, grilled cheese and chili cheese fries.
