Oct. 7-9: Southlake Oktoberfest
Hosted by the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, this free weekend festival offers handcrafted arts and crafts booths, live entertainment, food and beverages, family activities and a dachshund race. 4-11:30 p.m. (Fri.), 9 a.m.-11:30 p.m. (Sat.), 1-5:30 p.m. (Sun.). Stock up on fall favorites like pumpkins, gourds, hay bales and cornstalks at Fairview Farms Marketplace, 3314 N. Central Expressway, Ste. 100, Plano. Join Plano Fire-Rescue, Plano Police and the city’s 9-1-1 dispatch department for the first annual Public Safety PULLooza. Teams will try their hand in a tug-of-war competition involving a 36-ton fire truck to help raise money for Special Olympics Texas. The event also includes children’s activities, hands-only CPR and AED training, a police SWAT demo, food trucks and more. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Registration starts at 10 a.m. followed by the first pull at 11 a.m. Oak Point Amphitheater parking lot and event field, 2801 E.
