Interested in roadwork updates in the Allen area? Here are updates on several upcoming and ongoing construction projects in and around the city of Allen. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming projects
1. US 75 Green Ribbon project
Project: The work will provide enhancements to key intersections along the US 75 corridor, including Stacy Road, McDermott Drive and Bethany Drive, with landscaping and erosion control improvements.
Update: The project is in the final design review.
Project: The annual replacement of deteriorated street and alley pavement will also include upgrading accessible ramps at several locations in Allen.
Update: The city has approved a contract with Jim Bowman Construction to upgrade 4,138 square yards of alley pavement and over 27,000 square yards of roadway pavement.
Project: The planned work includes enhancements to the roadway segment between Chaparral Road and Bolin School Road by adding two additional lanes.
Update: The project is in the design phase
4. Highway Safety Improvement Program
Project: Improvements include modernized traffic signals, upgraded equipment, increased capacity and enhanced pedestrian features, with the goal of creating safer, more efficient and more accessible intersections.
Update: Construction is wrapping up with three intersections remaining at Century Parkway and Bethany Drive, Greenville Avenue and Bethany Drive, and Main Street and Greenville Avenue.
5. Spur 399 expansion
Project: The project includes reconstructing and widening Spur 399 from its current four-lane configuration to six lanes and connecting it to US 380.
Update: The project broke ground last summer and is currently under construction.
Project: The project will expand US 75 into five lanes by converting existing high-occupancy vehicle lanes into “technology lanes,” which will have designated time periods for HOV travel but will be open for all drivers at other times.
Update: Richardson crews are on track to complete the project by this summer.
