Allen council to consider neighborhood improvements at April 14 meeting

Members of Allen City Council will discuss two construction contracts for neighborhood infrastructure improvements at an upcoming meeting.

Allen City Council will meet at 6 p.m., April 14, for a work session, with a regular meeting to follow at 7 p.m.

What’s happening

The April 14 regular meeting agenda includes discussion on a $2.1 million construction contract for Greengate neighborhood improvements, including sidewalks and alleyways.

The agenda also includes discussion on a $5.2 million construction contract for the Jupiter Sanitary Sewer and Oak Hill Water Main Replacement project. In addition to replacing existing sewer lines, this project includes removing dead or overgrown trees as well as sidewalk repairs.

Diving in deeper

Council will also consider a possible zoning change recommended by the Allen Planning and Zoning Commission at its March 17 meeting.

If approved, the zoning change would enable the development of eight single-family homes on roughly 2 acres of land at the northwest corner of Allen Heights and Bethany drives.

Other regular meeting agenda items include:

• An annual report from the Downtown Design Review Board
• An annual report from the Keep Allen Beautiful board
• Approving minutes from the March 10 regular City Council meeting

The work session agenda includes an update on Allen’s 150 Fest and committee updates from City Council liaisons.

Allen City Council will meet at City Hall, located at 305 Century Parkway. Community members attending the meeting should use the side entrance, as the main entrance is closed for renovations.
