Family-owned Mexican eatery Carmelita's Kitchen & Tequila opened a second location in the Copperfield area of Cypress on July 21, officials confirmed.

On the menu

The business was established in 1962 by Alberto and Carmen Heredia and named after the family’s matriarch, Community Impact previously reported. Their grandson Chayane Heredia expanded the business to Houston with a location along Fry Road in Cypress.

The Copperfield location will focus on providing "fast-casual" dining with traditional Mexican cuisine including enchiladas, tacos, chile rellenos and quesadillas. Carmelita's also offers several specialties, such as:

  • Brisket quesabirria tacos
  • Braised sherry enchiladas
  • Shrimp and crab enchiladas
  • Carmelita's wet burrito
The location soft opened on July 21, and also offers a variety of alcoholic beverages including tequila and margarita flights.
