The Cy-Fair Fire Department on April 7 broke ground on a new station near FM 529 and the Grand Parkway, the first of eight planned fire stations as part of CFFD’s long-term expansion.
Two-minute impact
Located at 7027 Settlers Village Drive in Houston, officials said Station 15 is strategically positioned near population growth and development near the Grand Parkway, where several master-planned communities have planted roots in the past decade.
CFFD Chief Amy Ramon said expanding the department’s presence will help responders decrease response times and improve community outreach, both of which were needs identified in a 2023 audit of department operations, Community Impact previously reported.
Ramon said plans for Station 15 have been in the works for more than 10 years. Station 15 is the first new station to be constructed under the jurisdiction of the Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9, a local taxing entity that supports fire suppression and emergency medical services in the Greater Cy-Fair area. CFFD merged with ESD 9 in 2020.
“We feel like we’re going to be extremely successful with this building and planning this station and putting it to use,” Ramon said at the April 7 groundbreaking. “Being able to protect our community better than we have been ... and this is the first step in that.”

The ESD 9 board of commissioners on March 26 unanimously authorized a guaranteed maximum price of approximately $12.85 million for the Station 15 project, closely aligning with the district’s budget of $13 million.
Martinez Architects—a firm specializing in emergency response facilities—designed Station 15, and Houston-based general contractor Durotech will oversee construction.
CFFD is also gearing up to break ground on the second station of its expansion, Station 17, by late September or early October. Located at 21500 N. Bridgeland Lake Parkway, Cypress, the new fire station will fill emergency response service gaps in the growing Bridgeland area.
Looking forward
Station 15 construction is slated to wrap up by the second quarter of 2027, CFFD officials said.
"We are here to celebrate growth, not just of our department, but also our very unique and amazing community," ESD 9 Commissioner and board President Naressa MacKinnon said.
