Lane closures scheduled as Barker Cypress bridge construction nears end

The following lane closures related to construction on Hwy. 290 and the Grand Parkway have been scheduled for the weekend of Aug. 22.

Northbound and southbound lanes on Barker Cypress Road over Hwy. 290 will be closed from 8 p.m. Aug. 22 through 5 a.m. Aug. 25 as the contractor nears completion on the Barker Cypress bridge. Drivers will be detoured to the Hwy. 290 frontage roads and will have to U-turn to get back to Barker Cypress.

Eastbound and Westbound Hwy. 290 mainlanes will be closed from Mueschke Road to Bauer Road from 8 p.m. Aug. 22 through 6 a.m. Aug. 25. Drivers will be detoured to the Hwy. 290 frontage road as crews work on Grand Parkway/Hwy. 290 connector ramps.

The eastbound Hwy. 290 frontage road is also scheduled to be closed at West Road from 9 p.m. Aug. 22 through 5 a.m. Aug. 25. Eastbound frontage roads will also be closed from Jones Road to FM 529 from 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Aug. 23. Frontage road closures from Jones to FM 529 will continue nightly from 9 p.m. through 5 a.m. until the morning of Aug. 27. Drivers will be detoured to the main lanes.

Farther inbound, bridge work is continuing on the Hwy. 290/Loop 610 interchange. Officials strongly encourage drivers to seek alternate routes during this weekend of closures.

All Hwy. 290 eastbound and westbound mainlanes will be closed at the 610 West Loop interchange from 9 p.m. Aug. 22 through 5 a.m. Aug. 25. In addition, the three northbound inside mainlanes connecting I-10 to Hwy. 290 will be closed.

Drivers traveling from Hwy. 290 to southbound Loop 610 will be detoured to the 610 North Loop where they can U-turn at Ella. Drivers traveling from northbound 610 West Loop to westbound Hwy. 290 will be detoured to 610 North Loop to U-turn and enter Hwy. 290 from the north.
