1. Hwy. 290 Project G
Work on the interchange of Beltway 8 and Hwy. 290 has been steadily progressing. New Hwy. 290 frontage roads providing access to businesses and developments along the roadway are expected to be completed over the summer, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.Collector-distributor lanes are under construction between the Hwy. 290 mainlanes and frontage roads in both directions through the Beltway 8 interchange. The new lanes, which will provide drivers a separate lane to enter and exit the highway, are expected to be complete by the end of 2016. 2. Beltway 8 direct connector
Construction continues on the Harris County Toll Road Authority project that will add a direct connector from Hwy. 249 southbound to Beltway 8 westbound. Work on the overhead bents across the frontage road continued in May. HCTRA expects there will be additional short-duration lane closures on the Hwy. 249 frontage road from Greens Road to Beltway 8 during weekends. More details are available at www.hctra.org. 3. Greenhouse Road extension
Harris County Precinct 3 officials began work April 20 on the extension of Greenhouse Road from Alston Hills Drive to Towne Lake Greene Trail. When complete the new thoroughfare will feature a concrete boulevard with two lanes in each direction. The extension project is one of several smaller projects county officials have planned to help improve mobility in the Cypress area.
