“It’s definitely a family-run business,” Johnson said. “Even though [we’re growing], we still want the family feel.”

The staff at the therapy clinic offers outpatient rehabilitation services—including occupational, physical and speech therapy—to about 30 children. Dr. Seuss characters and quotes are hand-painted on walls throughout the clinic, providing a welcoming atmosphere for children, Needham said.

“When people think about therapy in the medical field, they think about a sterile environment, and kids sometimes don’t want to participate in that because it doesn’t look fun,” she said.

While the clinic primarily sees patients with disabilities, Needham said all children can benefit from services. For instance, staff can help children who struggle with handwriting or are recovering from a sports injury. Children can also participate in summer camps that help develop skills.

Needham said she wanted to create a comfortable environment for parents as well. The waiting room has free Wi-Fi, charging stations, a TV and snacks, and staff members help parents navigate insurance plans.

“There’s lots of home health agencies, but if you don’t have really good customer service, you don’t stand out,” Needham said.
