"Women can shop for all of the great jewelry makers, beautiful bags and designer belts," Cross said. "But people are selling soaps, candles, women's clothes, children's cloths and also handmade items that are really special."

Began more than two years ago, Cypress Market was run on Friday nights until organizers changed it to Saturday last year in an effort to offer the only outdoor market in the Northwest Houston area.

"There is not a whole lot in Cypress, so we thought 'let's bring some stores and neighborhoods together. Let's show everyone the great artists we have in this area,'" Cross said. "We have some amazing artisans and craftspeople."

Most of the customers have been loyal since day one, coming back monthly, Cross said.

"I see it growing and growing," Cross said. "We encourage people to come out and support the local business and the local economy. It's a win-win for everybody."
