The Lone Star College board of trustees approved revisions to its Alternative Teacher Certification Program for the college’s Kingwood and University Park campuses.

Trustees approved the revisions at the board’s Feb. 6 meeting. Officials noted the changes are being made in accordance with requirements stipulated in the Texas Administrative Code.

The revised programs are designed to prepare students for certification as teachers in the following certification areas:
To fully address the requirements, LSC officials said they will be required to deactivate the college’s internship and clinical tracks for their existing teacher certification programs at the campuses this summer. Students currently enrolled in these tracks will still have the opportunity to complete their existing programs.
What’s next
LSC officials said the revised programming will go into effect this fall.
