Officials in Cy-Fair ISD reported 367 new confirmed COVID-19 cases on campuses from Jan. 25-31, including 124 staff members and 243 students across the district. Last week had the highest number of students and the second-highest number of employees contract the virus, according to historical weekly data, mirroring the higher case counts seen across Harris County seen this winter.
This brings the district’s total number of cases reported since the start of the 2020-21 school year to 2,606. As of Feb. 2, CFISD reported 473 active cases and 2,133 recoveries.
Bridgeland High School was the campus with the most new cases confirmed last week with seven employees and 13 students.
The Texas Education Agency requires public school districts throughout the state to submit a weekly report detailing the number of test-confirmed positive COVID-19 cases among students and employees who participate in any on-campus activity. This data does not include students learning remotely and may not include those who test positive while in quarantine if they were not on campus during their infectious period.
