Cy-Fair ISD’s new administration building to be named after superintendent

The Cy-Fair ISD board of trustees unanimously voted Nov. 8 to name the district’s new administration building after Superintendent Mark Henry.

He has been an educator for four decades and has served as CFISD’s superintendent since 2011. In that time, he has been named Region 4 ESC Superintendent of the Year and has been a finalist for Texas Superintendent of the Year.

Henry expressed his appreciation for the Cy-Fair community at the board meeting and the district’s commitment to offering every student the support they need—from food services to health care.

“I’m for equality, but I’m for equity too—equity in the sense that every child in this community deserves an opportunity to succeed,” he said. “It’s been my goal over the last 10 1/2 years and the last 40 years as an educator to make sure that every child has that opportunity.”

The Dr. Mark Henry Instructional Support Center was included in the $1.76 billion bond program passed in 2019 and is slated to open by the end of 2022. Officials at the time estimated the 221,000-square-foot administration building would cost $65.9 million.

It will be located on a 26-acre property off Hwy. 290 next to Cy-Fair High School and will house employee offices as well as additional conference space for the district.
