The number of known active coronavirus cases across the Greater Houston area's five most populous counties increased by 21 on April 23 for a total of 5,301 active cases.
Total cases across Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, Galveston and Brazoria counties increased by 187 on April 23, but the increase in active cases was offset by patient recoveries, 160 of which were recorded.
Active cases in Harris County, including the city of Houston, fell by 16. In Brazoria and Galveston counties, active cases held steady.
Six coronavirus-related deaths were confirmed April 23, including two in Harris County, two in Fort Bend County, one in Montgomery County and one in Galveston County.
