Harris County Precinct 4 to host town hall with state Sen. Molly Cook

Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones will host a town hall Sept. 10 with state Sen. Molly Cook, D-Houston, to hear questions and concerns regarding state and local issues that affect Harris County residents, per the event notice.

In case you missed it

Cook, who represents District 15, was one of many Democratic lawmakers to speak out against the mid-decade redistricting plan, which passed in the Texas House on Aug. 20. Several congressional districts in Harris County were redrawn as a result of the redistricting plan, including Districts 9, 18, 29 and 38.

Harris County commissioners have been workshopping the proposed fiscal year 2025-26 budget, which they are set to adopt in late September.

Commissioners had to take up millions of dollars in cuts to address a $200 million-plus shortfall, Community Impact previously reported. Briones said during an Aug. 14 commissioners court meeting that it's "undoubtedly true that the state has made our jobs so much harder."
