Three candidates are vying for the position of State Senator, District 3 and will be on the ballot in the Nov. 6 election. Democratic candidate Shirley Layton, Republican candidate Robert Nichols* and Libertarian candidate Bruce Quarles are running for Texas' third state senate district, a position currently held by Nichols. The first day of early voting begins Monday, Oct. 22 and ends Friday, Nov. 2. *indicates incumbent
