Montgomery County commissioners are set to discuss 2026 property tax exemptions, the county’s 2025 road bond program and design services for a Montgomery County Justice Center during a July 9 meeting.

According to the agenda packet, commissioners will consider taking action on county ad valorem exemptions for tax year 2026. The item includes homestead, 65-and-older, and disabled exemptions.
The court is also expected to receive the 2025 road bond program financial report. Montgomery County voters approved the $480 million road bond in May 2025 to fund mobility projects across the county.
Also related to transportation, commissioners could approve an additional $3.9 million encumbrance for Sorters Road Segment 2 in Precinct 4. If approved, the total project encumbrance would be about $7.8 million to date out of a proposed $15.6 million project amount, according to agenda documents.

Commissioners will also consider awarding architectural design services for the Montgomery County Justice Center, with a contract to follow.
The court could also approve the creation of new district courts, a county court at law and a probate court.
Another item on the agenda would close the chief veterinarian position at Montgomery County Animal Services and create a general manager-medical services position. The new position would have an annual salary of $210,000, with 60% funded through the general fund animal services budget and 40% funded through the Animal Services Wellness project budget, according to agenda documents.
The court is also expected to discuss the fiscal year 2026-27 operating budget for the Montgomery Central Appraisal District, as well as possible uses for unallocated road and bridge engineer fees for salaries, benefits and one-time operational expenses.
