The Texas A&M Forest Service announced via Facebook Aug. 17 it will close the front lake recreation area of the William Goodrich Jones State Forest for drainage improvements Aug. 20-Sept. 20. In the interim, forest officials said that visitors may use the alternate parking and trailhead locations, which are located across FM 1488 from the Texas A&M Forest Service district office.
