As of April 24, 21 of Montgomery County's 467 coronavirus cases stem from two nursing homes managed by HMG Healthcare: Park Manor of Conroe and Park Manor of The Woodlands, according to a news release from the Montgomery County Public Health District.
After learning of the first positive case at Park Manor of Conroe on April 18, management of the facility tested every resident and staff member for coronavirus, which yielded 17 positive results: 15 residents and 2 employees, according to HMG Healthcare. One of those residents is hospitalized and 14 are recovering at an isolation unit. The employees are quarantined at home.
"Immediately testing everyone at the facility allowed us to mitigate the virus from spreading even further among our frail population and front-line staff," HMG Healthcare President and CEO Derek Prince said in a statement. "We began specific measures to reduce the risk of this virus spreading through the facility on March 9."
At the Park Manor of The Woodlands, 4 people tested positive: 3 residents and 1 employee. One of those residents has passed away, and his death was confirmed April 24 by MCPHD. The other two are in the hospital, according to HMG Healthcare.
