Conroe-based manufacturing company Tenaris will open a $70 million sucker rods plant with advanced technology in Conroe in July, according to a news release from the company. Sucker rods are steel rods utilized by the oil industry. Construction of the expansion was completed in 2017, but opening was postponed due to market downturn. It was built adjacent to the existing industrial pipe facility at 188 FM 3083, Conroe, which restarted last September. In March, Tenaris plans to start preparing the sucker rod mill, training plant employees and activating mill systems in preparation for a July opening. 713-767-4400. www.tenaris.com
