Montgomery County commissioners signed a new interlocal agreement with the city of Shenandoah on July 11 for the planned David Memorial Drive extension to Hwy. 242. However, the city of Conroe’s portion of the funding still awaits approval ahead of budget discussions.
What we know
The David Memorial Drive project is a roughly mile-long extension intended to ease congestion on Hwy. 242 and provide ease of access to Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. The project is being funded in collaboration with Montgomery County and the cities of Shenandoah and Conroe with some funding from The Woodlands' regional participation fund.
- Montgomery County: $5 million
- Shenandoah: $2 million
- Conroe: $2 million
Following the construction of the $109 million Hyatt Regency Conroe and Convention Center, Conroe City Council previously discussed the possibility of postponing its portion of funding until fiscal year 2024-25 due to budget shortfalls.
