UPDATED 8:39 p.m. CST

New bar concept Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Icehouse is slated to open in the former location of Gatti's Pizza in 2016.

Co-owner Kahran Espili said he and the other three owners wanted to create a space where patrons could relax among the bustle of West Sixth Street.

"We just want to keep it a nice ambiance," Espili said. "Some place where people can come and enjoy themselves."

WTF Icehouse, 701 W. Sixth St., will have indoor and outdoor space as well as a window to serve bar food to patrons and pedestrians, Espili said. The bar will be open seven days a week and may incorporate elements seen within the Rainey Street Historic District, he said.

The former Gatti's Pizza structure will be incorporated into new construction plans for WTF Icehouse, and ground will be broken on the project in the near future, Espili said.

The WTF Icehouse team plans to incorporate innovative social media interactions into their marketing prior to opening, but Espili said exact details are still under wraps. Ultimately, he said the WTF Icehouse team hopes to provide patrons with a great place to hang out with great service.

"I believe service is a big part of your success because ultimately it doesn't matter what else is happening," Espili said. "If you go to a place and you enjoy the food, you enjoy the atmosphere and the employees are nice, then I think that's really going to reflect and contribute to your success."

This post was updated to state Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Icehouse will open in 2016 instead of early 2016.
