Cedar Park City Council voted unanimously Dec. 6 to approve the Lakeline Park Master Plan. The plan serves as the framework for the development of the 189-acre park located on city-owned land.
Over the last year, the city of Cedar Park has held public meetings and surveys, requesting input from citizens on the project. The master plan includes results from the community feedback. According to the document, Cedar Park citizens desire a balance of passive recreation, environmental recreation and active recreation.
Some key elements the public expressed interest in incorporating include multi-use trails, sports fields, equipment rentals, a splash pad, wildlife observation and public art. City Council voted unanimously Nov. 15 to include a multipurpose pavilion for Lakeline Park in the master plan.
The master plan also includes a final concept plan, which outlines the anticipated layout of Lakeline Park.
The estimated cost of the park including construction contingencies and soft costs is estimated in 2018 dollars to be $21.7 million, according to city documents. A recommendation for Phase I development is slated to go to council in January. The city estimates it could take two and a half years to complete the project, but it is expected that phases of the project will open sooner as construction progresses, according to city spokesperson Jennie Huerta.
