Expected to become Austin’s tallest building, The Independent will be 58 stories high when it is completed. Ground was broken on the building in 2016. At this time last year, crews had poured concrete at Level 9, one of two floors devoted to amenities, which include a swimming pool.

The Latest

Construction is underway on the 46th floor of the building, and more than 70 percent of the units are under contract.

What’s Next

Residences are expected to open in late 2018. The units that are still available range from $600,000 to $3.5 million. In August, Lynd Development Partners announced plans to build an 850-foot-tall building at 600 Guadalupe St., Austin. The proposed building, if constructed, would eclipse The Independent.
