Photo by Bobby Longoria When it opened in December 2009, Old School was a yellow school bus converted into a traveling barbecue restaurant. The bus still runs, but Old School has now expanded to include two brick-and-mortar restaurants and a music venue.
The most recent addition to the Old School family of restaurants is the Old School Bar & Grill at 401 E. Sixth St. Owner Dan Parrott opened the restaurant in 2011 to offer his barbecue dishes and burgers along with new features, such as salmon and pasta.
"Because of having the food element and having that space upstairs [in addition to the bar], we're doing really well, actually," Parrott said. "We like Sixth Street; it's a cool neighborhood, and it's a lot of fun."
On the restaurant's second floor is Trinity Hall, a music venue boasting shows most days of the week. The space has been confirmed as a SXSW showcase venue, though no details about the showcases have yet been released.
