Three years ago, restaurant and entertainment venue The Goodnight opened on Anderson Lane for adults looking to make dining more exciting with a variety of games.

Co-owner Dave Goodnight said he saw an opportunity to open a fun restaurant for the surrounding neighborhood that featured entertainment and elevated bar food. 

“It’s hard to not have fun here,” Goodnight said.

The Goodnight has become a date night location for many couples because of the restaurant’s no-children policy, Goodnight said. All patrons must be 18 years old, and anyone younger than 21 years old is not allowed after 9 p.m.

Goodnight said the location is also a great destination for a group of friends or co-workers, and any group size or budget can be accommodated. Bringing a group to The Goodnight can be beneficial, he said, because of the variety of games, such as bowling, pool tables, pingpong, karaoke and recently added Skee-Ball.

“This is such a social place,” Goodnight said. “People love to jump around the entire place, so no one’s ever in their seats when they’re playing pingpong, pool, visiting friends in the bowling alley, whatever it may be.”

Two new locations of The Goodnight will open in the near future. One will open in 2016 at 506 W. Sixth St., and the second will open in late 2016 or early 2017 on Manchaca Road across from Moontower Saloon.

Many changes are also underway at the original location, he said, with Skee-Ball lanes added in late October, a remodel of the outdoor deck area in the works and the addition of outdoor games. Goodnight said the restaurant is also planning to release a new menu in January or February.
