Rosewood Community Market owner Allen Rogers says he is not trying to compete with the grocery chains.
Instead, he said he wants his small community market, which opened in late January at the corner of Chicon Street and Rosewood Avenue, to save people a trip to the grocery store when they need fresh produce or everyday items.
"The reception in the neighborhood has been really good," he said. "A lot of people are excited that we're here and maybe don't have to make a bigger trip [to the grocery store]."
Rosewood Community Market carries produce that is local, organic but not local, and nonorganic produce as well. Carrying produce from different sources allows for different prices, Rogers said.
