Selling premade food, everyday convenience items and a wide selection of beer and wine, River City Market opened in January in the Travis Heights neighborhood.
River City Market, 2209 S. Congress Ave., is a neighborhood boutique grocery store that aims to save neighborhood residents a trip to a bigger grocery store when needing basic items such as bread, produce, eggs or milk, owner Raj Singh said. River City Market is one of several like-minded boutique grocery stores such as Rosewood Community Market and Wet Whistle that recently opened in Central Austin.
Singh, who has lived in the Travis Heights neighborhood for 10 years, said he thought River City Market would be a positive addition to the area.
"The sole purpose for opening the location was based on the Travis Heights neighborhood," he said. "Why not give another option to the neighborhood for people who just want to buy a few things for a reasonable price?"
