February will bring several changes and groundbreakings to the East Austin business community, including one Austin bar taking over the space of another.
1. North Austin craft beer and cocktail spot The Long Play Lounge plans to open a second location on the premises of recently closed East Austin dive bar Stay Gold. According to a representative for The Long Play Lounge, the new 1910 E. Cesar Chavez St. location is tentatively set to open Feb. 15 and will remain under the same management as Stay Gold. www.thelongplaylounge.com
2. Malina Flowers plans to relocate to 3311 N. IH-35, Austin by Feb. 14. Originally located at 13625 Pond Springs Road, Ste. 102, the flower shop offers arrangements for weddings, events and holidays as well as flower-arranging workshops. 512-877-5353. www.malinaflowerstx.com
3. East Austin’s Mueller community has announced the development of a new office building to be built by Gemdale USA Corporation. The 130,000-square-foot, five-story project will mostly house medical offices. It will be located near Dell Children’s Medical Center and Ascension Seton’s administrative offices.
