The Peached Tortilla, an Asian-Southern fusion restaurant, has launched a new menu to accompany its renovated dining room and patio at its flagship location. The restaurant debuted the renovations and menu offerings on July 28, according to a news release.
The backstory
Founder and owner Eric Silverstein started The Peached Tortilla as an Austin-based food truck in September 2010. The restaurant’s flagship location launched four years later in 2014, bringing the familiar bites and beverages to a permanent location in North Austin.
Now, the restaurant has reached a “natural turning point,” according to the news release.
“This refresh is our step towards evolving our flagship location into the elevated restaurant it’s always had the potential to be, while still remaining true to the flavors and staples people have loved for over a decade,” Silverstein said in a news release.
On the menu
New menu items include the smashed cucumbers, charred cabbage and pork wontons prepared with Lacto-fermented morita hot sauce, soy, black vinegar and cilantro. Guests can also try the new Hainanese Chicken, which is a slow poached half chicken with lacquered sweet soy, ginger scallion sauce and chili crisp or the Texas Fish Curry, which features a Texas snapper, a lentil and kale red curry and fire-roasted tomatoes.
The Peached Tortilla also launched three new cocktails, including the Peach Departure which is crafted with mezcal, amaro, Aperol, peach and lemon.
What’s new
The restaurant’s updated design includes a plant installation, new dining tables and upgrades to the bar area. The patio now has banquet and table seating with a fabric awning to provide shade throughout the summer, according to the release.
Put it in perspective
The Peached Tortilla’s renovation comes nearly two months after its sister concept, Bar Peached, was damaged in a fire on May 31. The fire was caused by malfunctioning kitchen equipment, according to an email newsletter from the business. The incident caused Bar Peached to close indefinitely, according to previous Community Impact reporting.
