Honest Mary’s to launch new location in downtown Austin this July

Customers can also select either a chicken bone broth or a seaweed and mushroom broth, with additional toppings like lemon and parsley or ginger and turmeric. Sweet treats include almond butter cookies and a selection of pre-packaged snacks.

What’s special about it?

The restaurant features dishes made without any artificial flavors, colors, preservatives or additives, according to its website. The menu is 82% free of industrial seed oils and only uses natural sweeteners.

Honest Mary’s also uses hormone-free meat and wild-caught tuna, as opposed to farmed tuna.

The context

Nelson Monteith, Honest Mary’s CEO, founded the company with his wife, Mary Monteith, in 2017. The pair opened the first location in the Arboretum neighborhood in 2017. The brand now has five locations across Austin, Cedar Park and Houston.

Prior to owning Honest Mary’s, Monteith worked for a company located in the Seaholm Power Plant and remembered wishing there was a place like Honest Mary’s close by, according to a news release.

“Now, getting to serve this community with the kind of high-quality, nourishing meals we believe in feels full-circle,” Monteith said in the release. “We’re excited to be part of a neighborhood that shares our values of wellness, energy, and thoughtful living.”
